Custom health reminders: water, milk, and daily check-in habits
Searches for a drink water reminder app, healthy habit reminder, or simple custom reminder for daily routines usually mean: nudge me at 8pm for milk, midday for water, or morning to sit for a blood pressure check — without installing five habit apps. Blood Snap’s custom reminders let you name those prompts and schedule them next to your vitals diary.
Custom reminders are personal check-ins. They are not a calorie diet coach, not clinical high/low alerts, and not a substitute for clinician advice. Full meal-by-meal diet tracking is listed as coming later on our features page — today you get named reminders plus BP, sugar, and weight logging.
The problem with habit-only reminder apps
- Fragmentation — water app, stretch app, pill app, BP app.
- Streak pressure — gamified guilt that does not help a caregiver’s quiet routine.
- No vitals context — a water nudge is nicer when the same home already holds your cuff and meter log.
What you can remind yourself of in Blood Snap
In Settings / reminders, custom reminders support conditions such as general habits and vitals-related check-ins. You choose a name, time, and repeat (daily, weekly, or monthly). Examples people actually use:
- Drink water — classic hydration nudge (same intent as “drink water reminder app free”).
- Warm milk / evening snack habit your clinician okayed — not a nutrition prescription from the app.
- Sit for BP — reminder to take a seated reading, then log it (type, speak, or snap).
- Check fasting sugar — prompt to meter, then tag fasting in the glucose log.
- Weigh-in — weekly scale habit for a weight loss journey log.
Prescribed tablets belong in the Medicine tab — see free pill reminder in Blood Snap — so medicines stay distinct from lifestyle prompts.
Custom reminder vs medicine reminder
| Medicine reminders | Custom health reminders | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Prescribed doses | Water, milk, walk, check cuff, weigh-in |
| Mark dose taken | Yes | Named schedule prompts |
| Tied to BP/sugar/weight log | Same app | Same app — optional vitals-related labels |
How to add a healthy habit reminder
- Open Blood Snap → Settings → reminders / custom reminders.
- Create a reminder with a clear name (“Drink water”, “Milk”, “Evening BP”).
- Pick time and repeat (daily is common for water; weekly for weigh-ins).
- Enable the reminder and allow notifications when the OS asks.
- When it fires, do the habit — then log a reading if that was the point of the nudge.
Personal thresholds (not clinical alerts)
Blood Snap can also prompt when a logged value crosses a number you typed yourself. That is a personal threshold — not an emergency alarm and not a diagnosis of high or low blood pressure or sugar. Always follow your clinician for what needs urgent care.
What this cannot do
- It does not count glasses of water or calories automatically.
- It does not prescribe a healthy diet or replace a dietitian.
- It does not guarantee you completed the habit — only that a notification was scheduled.
- Medicine schedules should use the Medicine reminders flow, not a vague custom label, when doses are prescribed.
Add custom health reminders in Blood Snap. Name prompts for water, milk, or daily check-ins — free, next to your BP, sugar, and weight diary. Personal nudges only; not a medical device.
Educational information with public guideline citations. Not medical advice and not a diagnosis. Blood Snap is a personal wellness diary — not a medical device, blood pressure machine, glucometer, or CGM. Always follow your clinician's advice.
